As more people are working remotely and technology is developing, people are looking for ways to develop positive relationships with their coworkers. It can feel isolated to work from home and miss out on face-to-face contact. When employees develop relationships, it creates a positive work environment. Take a look at some of the ways that you can create positive relationships when you are working remotely.

Have Daily Conversations

It is important to have daily conversions with your coworkers. You can use email, messaging, or other services, or you can use a video conferencing tool such as Zoom. These conversations will allow you to feel more in touch. Don’t be afraid to send a quick message if you think of something funny, and make sure that you take the time to have longer conversations as well. Set aside time each day to converse with your coworkers.

Have Virtual Get Togethers

It is important to have some connections that aren’t related to work. You can connect online and have a movie night, or watch a few YouTube videos together. You can have a virtual Happy Hour after work, or have a virtual water cooler meeting. There are a lot of different ways to invite your coworkers to a virtual get together, and it helps you feel more connected.

Have a Face-to-Face Meeting

Another way to create positive relationships with your coworkers is to get together face-to-face from time to time. People may want to work remotely, but you can schedule both business meetings and social gatherings periodically so that they can interact in person. This will help everyone get to know each other.

Don’t Become Isolated

When you work remotely, it is easy to become isolated and forget that you have coworkers. You can get caught up in doing your tasks, and you may not even think that you need to know your coworkers. The reality is that being able to know and communicate with your coworkers helps you do a better job. It gives you an opportunity to hear and understand different perspectives, and you can collaborate on projects if necessary. You will feel more comfortable when it is time to see everyone in person if you have already planted the seeds for a relationship.
